Injuries Among Children

Children need special attention because of their age, vulnerability and developmental process. There are no specific policies and programmes in India and many LMICs for prevention, care and rehabilitation of injured children.

The CC has specifically examined many common injuries like RTIs, falls and violence through a number of research studies. Training programmes and awareness activities have been undertaken for a number of professionals and organizations over time on prevention aspects.

In 2018, the CC is planning to implement a 3-year programme on prevention of injuries among children through multi-sectoral approach with a focus on safe school programme, safety at home as well as safer recreational activities.

The CC also contributed to the world report on child injury prevention published by WHO.
