The Forum Mall –Just ten minutes away in Koramangala, is one of Bangalore’s oldest malls – The Forum, for all your shopping needs. You’ll find yourself spending many a week day night catching a movie here, or sometimes a free afternoon window-shopping. A great place for the mall-rats among us!

Prithvi Book Agency – Located on K. R. Road, near Vani Vilas Hospital, a fifteen minute rickshaw ride away is Prithvi Bookstore, this is the place to buy all your textbooks and miscellaneous paraphernalia like stethoscopes, fundoscopes, aprons etc. They’ll even throw in a discount!

Maryland Shoppy – A few minutes away in 16th Cross, Lakkasandra is the Maryland Shoppy where you can find all manner of stationery, along with some of the friendliest people to recommend course books to you. They even deliver direct to the hostel at times!

Blossom Book House – And for when you’ve had enough of textbook reading, head to Blossom Book House on Church Street, a favourite place to spend lounging around in, on lazy Sunday mornings. This place is treasure trove – look hard enough and you’ll find a gem of a rare book. A booklover’s paradise!

Lalbagh Botanic Gardens – One of Bangalore’s loveliest gardens in just five minutes away and the flower show here must not be missed! The gardens themselves are sprawling and perfect for a nature lover to stroll through, or jog through as one likes.

MTR, Lalbagh – For the authentic Bangalore experience, walk over to MTR and just about anything is delicious but the breakfast is heartily recommended! Although this place is almost impossible to get into on Sundays, a testament to its lasting popularity – weekdays are a good time to visit and if you’re at NIMHANS, you’ll end up here sooner or later.

Curry Leaves – An Andhra style joint located in Jayanagar, you’ll end up eating here or ordering from here fairly regularly, almost within your first week at NIMHANS!

Corner House Ice Creams – With two outlets close by, in Jayanagar and Koramangala, generations of NIMHANSians have tasted and sworn by the chocolate fudge sundaes here. Their fruit salads with ice cream are also very popular and rightly so.

Nandi Hills – Located a two-hour drive away from NIMHANS, is Nandi Hills or Nandidurg, an ancient hill fortress that promises scenic views at any time of the day, but the sunrises here are especially divine.

Wonder La – An amusement park with water theme rides, Wonder La is a mere 6 km away from NIMHANS and is thoroughly recommended for when you want to indulge the kid in you.

Bangalore Palace: Sprawling gardens and British architecture, reminiscent of Windsor Castle. An ideal place for spending a relaxed Sunday and learning about the history of Bangalore. 

Cubbon Park: Rolling lawns, trees and flowerbeds spread across 250 acres, giving Bangalore its title of Garden City. 

Vidhan Soudha: The seat of the Karnataka state legislature is an absolute treat to the eyes, a testament to majestic Indian architecture and a nice place to drive around.  

Rangashankara: One of Bangalore’s best known theatres, situated in J.P. Nagar, Rangashankara is the place to see plays with a number of famous artists showcasing their talents. 

National Gallery of Modern Art: A restored colonial mansion in verdant surroundings with beautiful works of art.

Bannerghatta National Park: Spend a day enjoying the safari ride and step in to the Butterfly Park. 

Tipu Sultan’s Summer Palace: Tucked away in the centre of Old Bangalore, this summer residence is an example of Indo-Islamic architecture and was completed in 1791. Try and register for a guided walk by INTACH and take a walk back in time.
