History
It all started after a visit to MEG lab at IGCAR, Kalpakkam, the only centre which made an innovative attempt to indigenously develop the country’s first 86 channel MEG system and Magnetocardiography (MCG), by Dr. P. Satishchandra and Dr. Sanjib Sinha in August 2011. Technical expert committee was formed with a vision to procure the state of art MEG equipment at NIMHANS for better patient care and research. Almost simultaneously similar steps were taken jointly by AIIMS, New Delhi and NBRC, Manesar. The site selection for installation of MEG equipment was carried out by experts from IGCAR, Kalpakkam and MEG vendors. The MEG research centre is located in the area previously housing the male and female Neuro rehabilitation wards. In March 2012 the committee took the decision to purchase the MEG equipment and develop the required infrastructure. The construction of building for housing MEG equipment was carried out during April 2012 to March 2013 and the system was installed during February to March 2013. It has been functional ever since.
