College of Nursing

NIMHANS, Bangalore has not only established its stand & reputation in quality patient care, but also in quality education and research. Since nurses play a vital role in the health care delivery system at all levels and as per the report of INC depicting acute shortage of Nurses, the Organization recognized the need to produce baccalaureate nurses by starting the College of Nursing to provide quality care to clients.

In 2006 August, B.Sc nursing programme was started with Indian Nursing Council recognition to prepare baccalaureate entry-level practitioners who are able to assist individuals, families and communities to achieve desired health outcomes through the provision of Nursing Care and collaboration with other health care providers.

The College of nursing provides a congenial learning environment for the students who are offered excellent teaching by faculty members using latest teaching –learning methods. The key activities carried at the college of nursing include curricular activities such as class room teaching, laboratory work, clinical/community teaching while the co-curricular activities include conducting and participating in CNE (Continuing Nursing Education) programmes, SNA (Student Nurses’ Association) activities, national health programme, health awareness camps and the extra- curricular activities include sports and cultural events held at NIMHANS Gymkhana including both state level and intercollegiate level institutional programmes.
