Masters in Public Health

Program of Study: With a vision to establish a Centre of excellence to foster evidence based public health practices, policies and programs focusing on Mental Health, Neurological, Substance Use and Behavioral Disorders, Injuries and Emerging NCDs, NIMHANS started the Centre for Public Health. The Centre for Public Health started the Master of Public Health (MPH) course from the academic year 2013-14 to bridge the gap in human resources and to strengthen public health capability of health and health related sectors.The Master of Public Health is recognized qualification under the Medical/Dental/Nursing Council of India as deemed in Clause 25 of the NIMHANS Act.

The MPH course aims to develop quality public health specialists who will be able to efficiently and effectively manage the constantly evolving health situation and systems of the country. The course based on adult-learning principles would be skill-based and adopt a modular learner centered methodology. The course will have mental health, neurosciences as the thrust areas and will also focus on practice of public health principles and tools

Master of Public Health (MPH) : 10 Seats (05 Seats for sponsored candidates from the government sector and 05 Seats for non-sponsored candidates). 

*If the seats are not filled by the sponsored candidates, then those seats will be filled by the eligible candidates from non-sponsored category and vice versa.

Duration: 2 Years

Minimum Qualification for Admission:

1. Minimum Qualification for Admission for sponsored Candidates: MBBS degree from a recognized University or from any other University recognized as equivalent thereto by NIMHANS/MCI and registered with a State Medical Council and currently working with Central or State Government’s health departments or Bachelor of Dental Sciences or Bachelor of Veterinary Sciences or Post Graduate degree in Sociology/Statistics/Environmental Sciences from a recognized University or recognized as equivalent thereto by NIMHANS

2. Minimum Qualification for Admission for non-sponsored. Candidates: MBBS degree from a recognized University or from any other University recognized as equivalent thereto by NIMHANS/MCI and registered with a State Medical Council or Bachelor of Dental Sciences or Bachelor of Veterinary Sciences or Post Graduate degree in Sociology/Statistics/Environmental Sciences from a recognized University or recognized as equivalent thereto by NIMHANS
