Program of Study

Introduced in the year 2017-18, this course is a practical training based program. Accordingly, it comprises of theory classes (30 h) on principles of techniques, automation, quality management and interpretation of laboratory reports. The practical training involving hands-on analysis of clinical samples (1790 h) includes routine biochemistry tests with serum, plasma, urine and cerebrospinal fluid, therapeutic drug monitoring, metabolic disorder work-up and tandem mass spectrometry for clinical diagnosis. Annual examination will be conducted at the end of the program.

The main purpose of the program is to equip the candidates with practical and analytical skills in clinical biochemistry. As the number of positions available in clinical laboratories in the country far exceeds the availability of qualified personnel, the successful candidates will have job opportunities for employment as Clinical Biochemists in clinical laboratories and biochemistry diagnostic centres.
