What we do

The departmental faculty regularly participate in the academic activity and teaching programmes, teaching Biostatistics and research methods to MPhil Clinical Psychology, MPhil Psychiatric Social Work, MPhil Biophysics, MPhil Neuro Sciences, MPH, DM Neurology, DM Neuroanaesthesia, M.Ch Neurosurgery, MD in Psychiatry, B.Sc and M.Sc Nursing. All the Ph.D students admitted to NIMHANS have to compulsorily undergo course work consisting of seven modules viz., research methodology, computer application, Quantitative and Qualitative Software, Human/Animal Ethics, Basic sciences, neuro sciences and behavioural sciences. The department is responsible for the teaching of the first three modules focusing research methodology, computer application exposing Linux operating system and statistical software in general and R software in particular.

The department admits students for Ph.D programme and two year M.Sc Biostatistics course. For the last three decades the departmental faculty have been actively collaborating with the clinical departments of the institute in several research projects funded by national and international agencies. Some of the multi centric research projects were in collaboration with Department of Psychiatry, Department of Neurology, Department of Neurosurgery, Department of Neuropathology and Department of Epidemiology funded by ICMR, Fogarty, WHO, DBT and DST.
