MSc (Biostatistics)

In order to develop manpower in the area of Biostatistics, the department initiated a new academic program during 2017-18 to train students for Master’s Degree in Biostatistics.  Details of this program are as below.

Program of Study:  M.Sc. (Biostatistics)

Number of seats:  Four

Duration:    2 Years

Minimum Qualification for Admission:  Undergraduate Degree in Mathematics/ Statistics as main subjects from any University recognized by NIMHANS, with at least 55% marks.

Program of study: The course will consist of theory lectures on Mathematical Statistics and Probability Theory, Statistical Inference, Sampling theory & design of Experiments, Demography & Epidemiology and Statistical Software I (using SPSS and SAS software) for the first year and Multivariate Methods; Genetic Epidemiology, Bioinformatics & Psychometrics; Clinical Trials & Survival Analysis; Statistical Software II (using R and Stata software); and Project Work/Dissertation for the second year.

Stipend:  The selected candidates will receive stipend as per NIMHANS guidelines (details in NIMHANS Prospectus)
