Vision
- To set national standards for mental health care of children and adolescents
- To spread knowledge and skills, and build capacities in child and adolescent mental health care all over the nation and in multiple sectors.
- To increase the knowledge base in the understanding and amelioration of metal health problems in children and adolescents
- To make a strong contribution towards advocacy and activism in the area of child and adolescent mental health
Mission
- To develop models of preventive, promotive and curative care relevant to child and adolescent mental health
- To carry out high quality cutting edge research in child and adolescent psychiatry
- To develop the department of child and adolescent psychiatry at NIMHANS as a model training institution in the area of child and adolescent mental health
- To participate and contribute in governmental efforts that concern policy and advocacy in the area of child and adolescent mental health
Objectives
- To provide high quality care in inpatient and outpatient services
- To build models of intervention for child and adolescent mental health problems
- To carry out basic and clinical research in child and adolescent mental health disorders, including neurodevelopmental disorders
- To devise courses, training modules, training packages for mental health professionals, doctors, and psychiatrists
- To develop training /teaching materials, and IEC materials for child and adolescent mental health
- To play an active role in government policies, programs, and legislation
