NIMHANS celebrated its 40th Institute Day Celebrations, and its first since its designation as an Institute of National Importance (INI) on 14th February, 2014.The Chief Guest for the event was Mr. Nandan Nilekani, Chairman, Unique Identification Authority of India [UIDAI], Planning Commission, Government of India. Prof.P. Satish Chandra, Director/Vice-Chancellor, NIMHANS presided over the function.
It was on this day that Prof. P. Satish Chandra, Director/Vice-Chancellor, NIMHANS declared that the launch of an online registration feature for the convenience of patients. NIMHANS is the first public institute to be declared an e-hospital and it is hoping to encourage people to book online for appointments. He stressed that the institute’s objective with this initiative is to encourage the educated class to make on online appointment.
Mr. Nandan Nilekani, chairman of UIDAI and the chief guest at the event stressed that linking medical reports of an individual to their Aadhaar card would make it easy for them to have access to quality healthcare. It would also be completely portable so that the healthcare record moves with the person. He reported that it is easy to do it in India as there is currently no data at all while in the US, information is all scattered in several proprietary databases. He also presented distinguished service awards to three people Diplomas were awarded to students who cleared their post doctoral fellowships and diploma course certificates and degrees to nursing graduates.
The event was followed by tea and cultural program put up by students of the institute.
