His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama visited NIMHANS on 7th December 2015 and unveiled the foundation plaque of the Institute’s Integrated Centre for Yoga.
The Nobel Peace Laureate delivered a special address in the packed auditorium at the NIMHANS Convention Centre. The spiritual leader, who interacted with the audience after his speech, answered questions about modern psychology, life after death and serving humanity.
Noted Hollywood actor and activist Mr. Richard Gere made a surprise appearance at the event. Mr. Gere, an ardent follower of The Dalai Lama, delivered a brief speech and shared his personal views and experiences relating to meditation.
Prof. P. Satishchandra, Director, NIMHANS, presented a brief report on NIMHANS activities with special focus on integrating yoga into mental healthcare. Dr. Shivarama Varambally, Additional Professor of Psychiatry, presented a report on the symposium titled ‘Integrating Scientific and Contemplative Approaches to Explore the Mind’ held the previous day of The Dalai Lama’ in conjunction with the Garden of Samadhi Mind Centre.
