Neuropathology
The Department of Neuropathology was born in 1956 to serve as a diagnostic centre. It has grown in the last 5
decades into a nodal referral centre for diagnosis in the country. It has expanded to include several
sections/divisions: Histopathology, Electron Microscopy and Human Brain Bank geared to provide
comprehensive care for the inpatients at NIMHANS. The mandate of the department includes diagnosis,
manpower development and research. Maintenance of high quality and stringency has earned the laboratory
national accreditation status by the NABL.
