About Library and Information Centre
The Library and Information Centre is a key academic unit of the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences. It supports the growth and development of Institute research and training by providing necessary academic information and support to users. The Library has a large collection of print and electronic resource material in the field of mental health and neurosciences, and in allied disciplines of medical and social health. The Library subscribed to 9125 journals and 5586 books in electronic form in the year under review either directly or through databases, and in the form of clinical materials and special themes.
Library users access the subscribed resources by visiting the Library in person or by connecting to the e-resources online either on-campus or off-campus. On-campus access is provided through the campus wide network and off-campus access is provided through Remotlog username / password controlled access.
The Library building is a fully Wi-Fi-enabled area. The Cyber Hall in the Library has a battery of desktop computers through which users can access the Library as well as other internet resources. The Library also has a newly renovated Reading Hall in which students can study and work using their own laptops and other personal resource materials. The Library provides official as well as private photocopying facilities for student, faculty, departmental, institutional, and personal use.
The Library provides some special facilities. Plagiarism similarity checking of manuscripts, dissertations, and theses is available using Turnitin plagiarism software. Language checking is available using Grammarly premium software. A recent feature has been the acquisition of 10 perpetual licenses of SPSS Software for statistical processing of data; Atlas.ti Qualitative analysis software and 2 of GraphPad PRISM; this is available to users campus wide through the Institute VDI platform. The Library also subscribes to the SCOPUS database, EBSCO - APA Psychtherapy video database, ProQuest: ASBMHO - ASNMHV video collections, and Up-to-Date clinical key.
The librarians educate users through periodical interactive orientation programmes for the discovery, evaluation, and use of information resources and services. The remainder of this annual report provides details, for the year under review, on usage statistics, subscription of resources, present trends, and future plans.
