Disseminating Knowledge, Enriching Minds
The Publications Section plays a vital role in the dissemination of knowledge about mental health and neurosciences, which is one of the primary functions of NIMHANS.
The dedicated provides an efficient system to support high standards of publishing, distribution, and sales of the Institute's scholarly works. It facilitates publication and printing of books, teaching manuals, technical reports and other important documents for academic and administrative purposes. The section is committed to ensuring that all publications are meticulously prepared and curated to maximize their impact and value for internal and external stakeholders.
Publication activity at the Institute dates back to 1958, when AIIMH first published a bi-annual journal called Pratibha. The journal covered issues related to mental health from medical, sociological, biophysical, biochemical, philosophical and literary perspectives. Pratibha was renamed Transactions in 1960 and was annually published till 1971. Following the establishment of NIMHANS, a dedicated Publications Section was formally created in 1981 to coordinate and enhance the Institute's publishing endeavours.
By leveraging modern technology, the section ensures that the Institute's publications are accessible to researchers, clinicians, students and the public. In addition to traditional print media, the section now supports the production of digital publications, e-books and online resources. This ongoing commitment to innovation allows NIMHANS to continue its role as a leader in mental health and neurosciences, fostering a deeper understanding and broader dissemination of critical knowledge across the globe.
