Key activities
The key activities include research, human resource development, advocacy for policies and programmes, monitoring and evaluation to develop need-based, sustainable and cost-effective services along with strengthening the public health response in the areas of Mental, Neurological and Substance use Disorders, Injuries and Non-Communicable Diseases adopting a life course perspective.
The Department/ Centre for Public Health
- Conducts epidemiological and public health research in the areas of Mental, Neurological and Substance use Disorders, Injuries and Non-Communicable Diseases
- Collaborates with related departments/agencies within and outside NIMHANS for epidemiological and public health research;
- Develops and provides data for planners, administrators and professionals for effective implementation of programs;
- Participates in formulation-development-implementation and evaluation of public health programs; and
- Supports evidence informed policies and programmes in the areas of Mental, Neurological and Substance use Disorders, Injuries and Non-Communicable Diseases
- Undertakes advocacy for inclusion of public health priorities in all health impacting activities
- Develops, implements and strengthen service activities within and outside NIMHANS for quality care through monitoring and evaluation
- Imparts training to postgraduate students, trainees, visiting fellows, non-professionals in both specific and applied areas.
