Endowments serve as dependable, perpetual sources of support for NIMHANS and its mission of academic pursuits and patient care.
Partnerships with corporates, NGOs and various foundations have been providing crucial support to advance the Institute’s mission. Over the years, growth of the endowments through donations and charitable giving has enabled the Institute to extend fellowships and scholarships to students, build academic excellence, initiate new programmes and research efforts, and support a range of important patient needs.
Some of the vital associations of NIMHANS include those with the TVS Motor Company and Sundaram Clayton Ltd., Infosys Foundation, White Swan Foundation and Dr. Ramachandra N. Moorthy Foundation.
Infosys Foundation donated a seven-seater multi-utility vehicle (Bolero) to NIMHANS for use by the Centre for Public Health. Mrs. Sudha Murthy, Chairman, Infosys Foundation handed over the keys of the new vehicle to the Director, NIMHANS on 28 August 2014.
A MOU was signed between NIMHANS and Sundaram-Clayton Limited (SCL) of the TVS Group on 18 July 2014. SCL has agreed to support and fund various academic programmes/activities of the Institute.
Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) donated a new bus (Ashok Leyland) to NIMHANS. BMTC Managing Director Mr. Srinivas formally handed over the keys of the bus to Prof. Satish Chandra, Director/Vice-Chancellor, NIMHANS at a function on 24 January 2013. The bus is being used by the students of the Nursing College to visit various training centres, and to transport patients for the Day Care services of Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Neurological Rehabilitation.
NIMHANS in association with the Bangalore chapter of Indian Epilepsy Association (IEA) and UCB Pharmaceuticals launched ‘Hope on Wheels’, a customised van equipped with audiovisual aids to dispel myths and improve access to diagnosis and management of epilepsy on 11 December 2012. Mr. Fabrice Endelin from UCB handed over the keys of the vehicle to Prof. P. Satish Chandra, Director/Vice-Chancellor, NIMHANS and IEA Bangalore Chapter’s President Dr. G.T. Subhas.
