Masters in Public Health

The Centre for Public Health, conducts a two-year Master of Public Health (MPH) course for in-service MBBS graduates who are sponsored by the central or state governments across the country. Our MPH course is coordinated and delivered by a team of experts in various fields both within and outside NIMHANS. This MPH course has a special focus on Mental health, Neurosciences, injuries and other NCDs, that are established health problems in India and other Low and Middle Income Countries. The course offers a unique blend of theoretical frameworks with hands on experience in problem solving and skills development in fields of public health administration and management, epidemiology, biostatistics, sociology and behavioral sciences, environment and occupational health, research methodology, health promotion, research methodology, nutrition, mental health neuroscience and substance use disorders, injury prevention and other related skills that are required to ensure that students are capable of conceptualizing key public health, epidemiological principles and methods and be equipped to apply them at regional and national levels particularly related to NCDs, mental health, substance use, neurological disorders and injuries.
